Description
-Conducts extracorporeal circulation and monitors variables of physiologic functions, including hypothermia and hemodilution;
-Conducts partial and total heart-lung bypass for all indications; long-term respiratory of cardiac assists; intra-aortic balloon purmping and other
methods of counterpulsation.
-Operates hepcon machine for heparin analysis and protamine titration analysis; heating and cooling machine: myocardial temperature probe and
machine: electromagnetic flow meter to measure the blood flow in the coronary vein graph and cell saver machine.
-Administers cardioplegia and pharmacologic agents according to orders prescribed by surgeon and / or staff anesthesiologist.
-Conducts research in extracorporeal circulation in conjunction with surgeons.
-Performs intra-operative autotransfusion on cardiac and non-cardiac procedures; isolated organ or limb perfusion; analyzes and performs activated clotting time.
Qualifications
-Bachelors Degree
-Completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program
-Current certification with American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
