Job Details:
• POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the cardiac surgeon, sets up and maintains the heart lung machine and monitors the patient during open heart surgical procedures. Provides technical and clinical support to the perioperative care team. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:Graduate of an accredited school of perfusion and board certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. If not a certified cardiac perfusionist, eligible for certification, certification to be obtained prior to granting permanent employment. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and services. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Demonstrates manual dexterity and ability to handle mechanical equipment and instruments.
