Position Description

Provides clinical consultation and support to sales representatives and customers for CardioVascular products.  Promotes the adoption of new technologies and provides clinical consultative support for evaluations.

Supports CardioVascular strategies through execution of field sales training and customer education.  Provides front line feedback to marketing, quality and R&D regarding impact of programs, customer satisfaction with product performance, emerging market trends, and competitive activity.  Serves as technical resource and product expert for the entire Cardiac Surgery product line.
Position Responsibilities

1.  Provides clinical consultation to achieve objectives and supports his/her respective Region’s revenue goals
    and operating plan responsibilities.
• Plans activities in support of the entire Region.  

2. Customer Education
• Consults with physicians to identify training needs.
• Trains customers on the safe and efficacious use of Medtronic products.
• Provides technical explanation and demonstration of products to customers.  
• Consults with physicians during product usage or implant.
• Participates as trainers in planned customer education programs.
• Delivers on-site training sessions for customers, schools and other institutions as assigned.
• Helps develop education materials.
• Serves as technical expert for CS products.
• Provides troubleshooting and complex problem solving.
• Supplies on-call technical support as needed.
3.  Medtronic Employee Training/Education
• Assists in training sales reps and other employees on cardiac diseases and products.
• Reviews and summarizes cardiac surgical, peer reviewed publications.
• Assists in establishing sales training processes and materials.
• Delivers training to Medtronic personnel regarding competitive products and their capabilities.
• Develops sales reps’ technical knowledge through one-on-one field training.

4.  Administrative Responsibilities
• Submits accurate and timely reports to sales management.  
• Completes expense reports with necessary documentation.  
• Schedules travel arrangements to ensure multiple cases are covered.
• Comes to cases prepared with appropriate products and clinical literature.  
• Balances administrative duties with other job responsibilities.  

5.    Product and Market Development
• Gathers and communicates input and feedback from the field to marketing and R&D:  marketing trends, customer satisfaction, competitive information, current product and new product issues.
• Provides in-depth, on-site technical support for product trial.
• Provides clinical support in the development of marketing materials.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

6.  Maintains expertise and knowledge in relation to Medtronic Cardiac Surgery products, as well as current
     literature, key clinical papers, and trends in the industry.    

7.  May be involved in key account conversions and letter writing campaigns.
Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of a BS degree, preferably in the Medical Field (i.e. Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Perfusionist, Surgical Tech, etc.)
• Minimum of 3 years clinical Cardiac Surgery experience.
• Some previous training experience required.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• RN, PA, MS or similar clinical knowledge or expertise.
• Excellent influence and consulting skills.
• Ability to make timely and sound decisions.   
• Ability to identify and drive initiatives that are related to customer/business opportunities and organizational strengths.  
• Ability to build strong relationships with key CardioVascular surgeons, customers and internal employees is critical.
• Ability to effectively organize and plan travel schedule.
Physical Job Requirements

• Ability to travel 75% of the time
• Sitting, standing 8 hours/day
• Minimum weight lifting requirement (generators, suit cases., etc)
