Functions as a member of the Patient Care Team, demonstrates knowledge of perfusion theory and disease processes in order to provide professional care to patients as appropriate


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Completion of an accredited school of perfusion

2. or eligible to take the certification examination of the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion

B. Required Length and Type of Experience

1. One (1) year on the job experience to become proficient with various perfusion techniques and equipment unique to CCF and become familiar with various operative procedures

C. Required Licensure, Certification or Registry

1. Current certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion

2. Current BLS certification.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assembles and dissembles heart-lung machine.

2. Operates heart-lung machine, provides total patient maintenance during cardiopulmonary bypass.

3. Performs charting.

4. Prepares sterile packs.

5. Maintains current knowledge in perfusion.

6. Must perform at least one of the following function:

a. Lectures on perfusion.

b. Participates in research/product evaluation activities.

7. Plans and provides direction for achievement of quality patient care and customer satisfaction.

8. Facilitates the resolution of customer service issues in a timely manner.

9. Assists in the implementation of formal and informal surveys/methodologies to monitor whether the specific service of department/unit are meeting the needs of the customer.

10. Uses information for feedback to recommend systems and/or employee performance modifications when services are not meeting standards or expectations.

11. Monitors ongoing outputs, processes and satisfaction levels within area of responsibility to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.

12. Develops innovative solutions resulting in improved quality/customer service.

13. Maintains complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times, including product and service quotes.

14. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control practices.

15. Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.

16. Follows Code Blue protocol as per Clinic Policy.
