Responsibilities

The Operating Room Perfusionist assists in perfusions associated with surgical treatment at New York Presbyterian Hospital and performs total circulatory, regional and organ perfusions. Adheres to the policies and procedures of the department and the hospital.

Post-high school education in nursing or other biomedical field or health science leading to BSC or higher degree. Minimum of one year experience in hospital or biological laboratory utilizing above field of knowledge in clinical practice. Knowledge of basic principles of perfusion technique, aseptic techniques (microbiology), surgical technique (anatomy), organic chemistry (physiology), pharmacology (of cardiac drugs), metric system, physics, electronics
