RESPONSIBLE FOR: Setting up and operating the extra-corporeal circuit to assume the functions of patient organs during surgery. Operates equipment to achieve bypass, partial bypass, coronary perfusion, recirculation, autotransfusion, balloon counterpulsation, point of care measurement of blood gases and anticoagulation status or to alter blood content, temperature or balance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited School of Perfusion, licensed by the State of Georgia as a Perfusionist, and current Board Certification. Requires ability to work under stressful situations with frequent interruptions and flexibility in adapting to dynamic circumstances and schedules. ACLS and BCLS credential by the American Heart Association is required.
