Prepares and operates equipment, both specific and ancillary, and administers blood, fluids and drugs to assist in providing quality care to patients requiring procedures that involve extracorporeal circulation.
PREPARES AND OPERATES EQUIPMENT THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH PROCEDURES THAT REQUIRE EXTRACORPOREAL CIRCULATION TO AID IN THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY PATIENT CARE.
*Prepares and operates all relevant equipment, including equipment required for cardiopulmonary support, circulatory support, blood salvaging techniques and hemodynamic monitoring, in an appropriate manner that facilitates high quality results for the patient.
*Performs necessary calculations of various physiologic parameters in an appropriate manner.
*Keeps records associated with performed duties that are accurate and thorough on a consistent basis.
*Continuously monitors patient status and informs surgeon and anesthesia staff; makes adjustments based on physician input.
ADMINISTERS BLOOD, FLUIDS AND DRUGS TO PATIENTS AS REQUIRED FOR THE DELIVERY OF OPTIMAL PATIENT CARE.
*Obtains blood samples, and performs analyses and interpretations for ABG, ACT, heparin levels, HDR, Hct., Hgb. and PTT in a manner that is consistent with established policies and procedures.
*Mixes and administers drugs and solutions required for myocardial preservation in a manner that is consistent with established policies and procedures.
*Adjusts gas flows and mixtures, administers anesthetic agents, blood, drugs and fluids via the extracorporeal circuit in a manner that consistently results in safe and effective procedures.
PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
*Graduate of an accredited school of perfusion technology.
*Licensed by the State of Texas to perform Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of perfusion technology
License/Certificate: Licensed Perfusionist
