Description:
Supervises
the perfusion services department and the operation of perfusion activities
assigned to the various surgical enterprises at GHS. Performs the clinical and
administrative functions of a cardiovascular perfusionist. Meets the
qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their
assigned clinical area. Performs duties at the highest level possible to assure
that patient care is optimized and that patient satisfaction is enhanced. Works
under the general supervision of the Director of Perfusion Services, surgeons
within various departments to which the perfusionists perform functions, and
the Operation Director for the Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgery Service
Line.
Minimum of a
baccalaureate degree with a Masters, or higher, degree preferred. Minimum of
five years experience as a certified clinical perfusionist required. Minimum of
three years supervisory clearance. American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
certification required. Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology,
pharmacology, perfusion techniques, and medical terminology; requires knowledge
of neonatal, pediatric adn adult perfusion techniques that optimize patient
care and improve outcomes.
