PERFUSIONIST

           As assigned by the Chief Perfusionist, and according to the prescribed standards, the Perfusionist performs those functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, and/or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and/or circulatory system of the patient.  The Perfusionist performs advanced technical work in the selection, preparation, operation, and maintenance of the cardiopulmonary bypass and ancillary equipment.  The Perfusionist is responsible for the knowledge, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of technical perfusion equipment utilized in cardiac surgery, as well as, other circulatory support devices, and for close cooperation with the attending physician in extra-corporeal perfusion practices.  The primary working area is the operating room, however the possibility exists of working in other within the Health System. Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Education and Experience Other: Successfully completed a course of study Experience:No experience required Licence/Certification: Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or eligible for certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Exam passed within four exam offerings   Employment in this job is conditioned upon satisfactory completion of a drug test.  BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
