At Aurora Health Care our Perfusionists provide short-term cardiopulmonary support during open heart procedures, long-term support via extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), centrifugal ventricular pumps on cardiac or pulmonary comprised patients, and cardiac support for liver transplants. They perform rapid infusion, cardioplegia administration, hemoconcentration, hemodiafiltration, and modified ultrafiltration on adult patients.

* Providing safe operation of extra-corporeal perfusion equipment during open-heart procedures and liver transplants.
* Providing long-term cardiac and/or respiratory support for compromised patients via ECMO support or centrifugal ventricular support.
* Providing short-term cardiopulmonary support during open heart procedures.
* Performing rapid infusion, cardioplegia administration, hemoconcentration, hemodiafiltration, and modified ultrafiltration on adult patients.
* Standing by during certain catherization lab procedures (PTCA’s) and surgical procedures.
* Assembling, priming and preparing the heart lung machine for use in the operating room, certain catherization lab procedures, and the intensive care units.
* Procuring platelet gel according to industry standards.
* Ensuring proper set up, priming, of all perfusion equipment.
General Qualifications
* Current certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist granted by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
* Knowledge of the Health Science or related field, equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited bachelor’s degree program.
* Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in pumping perfusion cases.
* Current CPR certification.
* Proficient organizational and communication skills.
* Must have the ability to pay close attention to details, and to deliver excellent customer service.
* Demonstrated interpersonal, human relations, and patient assessment skills.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Must be able to work independently, or in team environment.
* Demonstrated writing, editing and research skills.
* Ability to work within stressful situations, and to exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
