Perfusion Community

• Working with the Chief Clinical Perfusionist to provide support to the surgery team.
• Ascertains that proper equipment is available for each surgical procedure, including:
  set up and operate the heart-lung machine in the OR within standards and protocols
  maintain accurate and timely records for all perfusion cases.
• Calibrate all perfusion equipment and point-of-care blood gas determination equipment

  operate ventricular assist and long term support equipment in ICU within standards and protocols.
• Participate in the on call schedule.
• Participate in student teaching.

REQUIRED:

• Graduate of a Certified School of Perfusion
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in neonatal and pediatric extracorporeal circulatory support preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Thorough knowledge of the operation of heart - lung machine.
• Ability to assess equipment and determine appropriate calibrations.
• Must have the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, developmental, social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the section of cardiothoracic surgery.
