Must be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) and the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and shall maintain their certification through ABCP and NCCPA - Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted current medical license in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications - Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience after ABCP and NCCPA certification
Must have performed pre-op evaluation, surgical assisting, post-operative care, order writing, removal, of arterial lines and chest tubes for minimum of two (2) years as a physician assistant - Must have all the following qualifications: -- A knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and chemistry, as it relates to a patient undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass -- Experience with state-of- the- art heart-lung machines and must know the proper set-up in the operation of the heart-lung machine, centrifugal biomedicus pump, autotransfusion machine, intra-aortic balloon pump, ACT machine, VAD and ECMO equipment, and ABG machine -- Experience with cell savers, intra-aortic balloon pumps, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenators, and related life support equipment such as pacemakers, cardiac monitors, cardiopulmonary support systems, ventricular assist devices and other current technologies -- Experience with all techniques used in extra-corporeal circulation to include oxygenation, hemodilution, myocardial protection, blood gas management, anticoagulation and intraoperative blood salvage -- Knowledge of current perfusion techniques. methodologies and equipment usage sufficient to meet the standards of practice for the cardiopulmonary perfusion team -- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and principles -- The ability to coordinate perfusion activities with the entire operating room team -- Possess the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the operating team -- Must have performed basic administrative support functions, such as documenting and logging cases, ordering supplies, writing teaching reports and other functions as required -- Must have provided medical/surgical assisting to the surgeons as requested and at the level of their education/experience -- Complete and maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training for the position. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER EXPERTISE REQUIRED. *Must pass a National Agency Check (NAC)
