Description:
Operates cardiovascular perfusion equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support the patient’s cardiorespiratory function. Provides consultation to physician regarding selection of appropriate equipment and techniques to be used during extracorporeal circulation; choice of equipment and techniques used remains with the surgeon. Responsible for conducting extracorporeal circulation and insuring the safe management of cardiorespiratory functions by monitoring the necessary physiological variables during cardiopulmonary bypass.
Education/Experience/Licenses:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years perfusion experience preferred. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionists required. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to analyze, organize, delegate, and make decisions; verbal ability required to communicate with staff, physicians, and others.
